SELECTED CONSULTING PROJECTS

 

Independent Consultant, DFI International.  Subcontracted to work on a research project for the Defense Wireless Service Initiative.  Responsible for development and oversight of two survey instruments to assess the attractiveness of DoD jobs to RF engineers and the attractiveness of DoD partnerships to technical managers.  Responsibilities included survey development including oversight of item development, survey administration, and analysis planning.

 

Consultant, United States Air Force (under contract through Caliber Associates).  Responsible for delivering training sessions on Community Needs Assessment survey data findings to Interdisciplinary Service (IDS) Teams of Air Force Support Personnel.  Facilitated IDS teams through review and interpretation of survey data and utilizing data for strategic planning at 17 Air Force Bases worldwide.

 

Consultant, Army Research Institute (under contract through Caliber Associates).  Conducted research for United States Army Recruiting Command (USAREC) in Ft. Knox, KY.  Reviewed literature examining performance management practices for enhancing effectiveness of recruitment and other sales activities.  Review included examination of incentives that enhance recruitment and sales and documentation of “best practices” for motivating recruiters and sales professionals, with a specific emphasis on setting and developing quotas.  Co-authored report “Identifying and Evaluating USAREC Station-Level Business Practices.”  Developed structured interview protocol to gather data from Army recruiters.

 

Consultant, Army Research Institute (under contract through Caliber Associates).  Conducted research for United States Army Training and Development Command (TRADOC) in Ft. Leavenworth, KS.  Responsible for overseeing development of survey items, focus group questions, and interview protocols for Army Culture team.  Responsibilities involved project management, conducting literature reviews, item and question development, focus group facilitation, workshop facilitation, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, report preparation, and delivering client feedback.

 

Consultant, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) (under contract through Caliber Associates). Contracted to Quality of Life (QOL) Program to design and implement program evaluation of  various QOL Programs including Child and Youth Care Programs, Relocation Assistance Programs, Family Advocacy Programs, Fitness and Wellness Programs, and Food Service Programs.  Responsible for development of research design to assess impact of QOL Programs on corporate outcomes such as recruitment, absenteeism, turnover, and productivity and determining ROI.  Developed survey research tools and educated QOL Program personnel and DLA management on implementation and maintenance of systems for tracking data to be used in ROI assessment.  Integrated Balanced Scorecard approach into evaluation design. 

 

Consultant, Commonwealth of Virginia Department of State Police (under contract through Personnel Decisions Research Institutes).  Assisted with development and validation of a promotion system consisting of knowledge tests, in-basket exercises, and behaviorally-based structured interviews.  Developed training materials for in-basket raters and delivered rater training.  Responsible for conducting data analysis of all promotion scores including calculating promotion scores, developing score bands, conducting adverse impact analyses, and summarizing findings of data analysis in a technical report. 

 

Consultant, Defense Leadership and Management Program (DLAMP) (under contract through Personnel Decisions Research Institutes).  Responsible for knowledge test item development in multiple-choice, short answer, and essay formats for courses on Human Resource Management, Labor Relations, and Business Logistics.  Piloted knowledge test items, conducted item analyses, and interpreted analyses to make item revisions.  Collaborated with client and course instructors on item changes.

 

Independent Consultant, NYLCare Mid-Atlantic. Conducted research to diagnose causes of decline in organizational citizenship behavior.  Designed focus group protocol and conducted focus groups.  Designed survey assessing individual differences, work attitudes and organizational variables related to organizational citizenship behaviors.  Supervised data collection, conducted data analysis, and wrote technical report.
