Bio:

Dr. Susanna Khavul  is an assistant professor of strategic management, entrepreneurship, and innovation in the Management Department at the University of Texas at Arlington. Her research focuses on explaining the innovative performance of high technology firms operating in a global economy. 

Dr. Khavul is the winner of the Academy of Management’s Heizer Award for “Outstanding Research in the Field of New Enterprise Development” and the Taylor & Francis Publishers Award for “Best Research on Venture Capital.”  She is also the recipient of the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Teaching recognition from the Foundation for Entrepreneurial Management at the London Business School where she was faculty member before joining UTA.   Dr. Khavul has a BA in Economics with High Honors from the University of California Berkeley (and the London School of Economics) and a   Doctorate in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship with High Honors from Boston University. 

Dr. Khavul has appeared as a commentator on CNBC.  Her work has been discussed in Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial TimesBloomberg. The Guardian,  the Times of London as well as international  publications from Brazil to Finland. She is a former senior member of a venture capital and investment banking firm.  In the early 1990s, she was the director of a seventeen country economic and business development program.  For the last twenty years, she has been a director in a residential real estate and land development venture.  She frequently consults for both industry and government  on innovation, technology commercialization, and start-up finance.
